Dealer Planning Services (DPS) quarterbacks the business succession, estate and retirement planning and implementation needs of automotive and truck dealers. Lead by Brian Middleton, over the past thirty plus years DPS has provided over 300 automotive and truck dealers with detailed and thorough plans and implementation follow-through support regarding many of the most challenging issues confronting automotive and truck dealers today.


Over DPS’ 30 plus year history, it has developed a highly effective process for business, estate and retirement planning and implementation. DPS has consistently found that when the family and closely held business owners or their advisors digress from this process the resulting plans and implementation does not address the core needs of the client or is not coordinated properly or is not completed. The four foundation elements of the DPS process are:


  • Open and effective communication
  • Realistic and thorough readiness assessments
  • Client specific and practical implementation plans
  • Implementation follow-through support (DPS “eats-its-own-cooking”)


Finally, the DPS process involves input from all of the client’s professional advisors. We will attempt to bring this team together for the client’s benefit. This team must be willing to openly communicate with the client and with each other. Different professional disciplines will often foster different opinions. If these opinions are discussed openly among the planning team, the business owner will be best served.
